Validate a licenceThe network version of Introduction to Statistics has a licence that is validated when issued so program installation is a one-stage process. Registering computers, tutors and students to the installation is carried out by the network manager at installation time or later. All single-computer versions are registered to a particular computer and will not run on a different one. To achieve this, installation is a two-stage process. First you install the program. When it runs, it displays a 20-character code that identifies the computer. This code must be sent to StatBasics to allow a validation code for that computer to be generated. When a prepaid licence code is used for the first time, the 20-character code can either be sent by e-mail to validation@statbasics.com or be entered in the first form on this page. If the code has been used previously or if you have used a built-in code to install the program, the validation needs to be paid for, so you should use the second form on this page. If the computer is connected to the internet, much the best way is to copy and paste the code that the program generates so as to avoid typing errors. The validation code is normally returned by e-mail within 24 hours but occasionally it can take quite a lot longer. Do not fail to provide an e-mail address so the validation code can be returned! Single-user Introduction to Statistics is always supplied on CD accompanied by a licence code of 12 characters which can be validated once without charge. It cannot normally be validated more than once but you are welcome to contact StatBasics if the situation is unusual. You can request a first validation here, just as for the other programs.
Research Methods in Psychology, Descriptive Statistics, or Inferential Statistics If your program is supplied on CD, it normally comes with a licence code of 12 characters which can be validated once without charge. It is permissible to use a CD to install a program on more than one computer but each computer after the first requires a validation fee. Your validation code can be sent in either by e-mail or by using the form below. If you use copy-and-paste to send the code, it does not matter which of these you use. If you must type in your code there is more chance of error. The form is then preferable since it detects some errors. If your licence code has been validated previously, or if you have downloaded your copy of the program from the internet, a validation fee must be paid in advance.
